Gironda Diet

Vince Gironda Diet Plan

Vince Gironda who is said to have had an IQ of 150 ate the well-known ketogenic diet or Atkins diet with near zero carbohydrates most of his life. Vince called it the steak and eggs diet and that is exactly what he ate with a cheat day every 4th day, where you eat some greens and whatever else you want.

Vince explained to the top bodybuilders when he put them on this diet that it will boost testosterone production, lose fat and build muscle. He was living proof that it worked, living to reasonably old age and not dying from heart problems associated with a high fat diet.

The Vince Gironda diet of steak and eggs is also called the ketogenic diet because of the lack of carbohydrates in the diet forces the body to get its energy from the fat stores. It does this by producing ketones that it used as energy because there is no glucose available as there are no carbohydrates.

It is important to note that it takes a while for your body to get used to ketosis and use fat and ketones for energy instead of glucose. When starting out this radicle diet for the first time there is a good chance you will suffer from side effects like weakness, fatigue, headaches and some mild irritability.

These symptoms should not last more than a week and if you stick with the dietary requirements then you will soon adapt and get used to it. Vince was ahead of his time as science now has strong evidence to prove that it will help epilepsy, obesity, type 2 diabetes and all cardiovascular risk factors like improving triglycerides and HDL cholesterol levels.

Science has also proved that the ketogenic diet will help many other neurological diseases like Parkinson's disease, narcolepsy, Alzheimer's, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and brain trauma. Recent research shows this ketogenic diet will also help Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (POS), acne and brain cancer.

The scientific definition of a ketogenic diet means that you are consuming less than 60 grams of carbohydrates a day. With your ketogenic diet consisting of proteins and fats one should be careful to measure how much and what types of fats you eat.

The ketogenic experts all agree that it is better to stay clear of polyunsaturated omega-6 fats like soy, corn and safflower oils and to rather consume medium-chain triglycerides like coconut oil. They tell us it is better to consume monounsaturated and saturated fats like olive oil and butter or avocadoes and cheese.

The sample of a ketogenic diet listed below is just an example of the many different options one can choose from when going onto the Vince Geronda or ketogenic diet:
